The Frog & Fern Cottages are set in a scenic village at the foot of the ChimanimaniMountains. The cottages are 18kmaway from the National Park’s base camp, 3km from Bridal Veil Falls and share a common boundary with the Eland Sanctuary. This location makes them perfect for walking locally or for getting prepared for a serious hike into the Chimanimani Mountains. 

Roads: A good tarred road leads to Chimanimani from Masvingo, Chipinge and Mutare. However once you reach the village be prepared for poor to very poor dirt roads. If you can possibly bring a 4×4 you will be thankful. Frog & Fern is only 1.5km from the tar and any robust sedan can make the trip.

Accommodation:

Frog & Fern offers self catering accommodation in 3 beautiful stone, thatch and wood cottages. Miombo Cottage (Used to be known as The Round House) sleeps six with one double en suite downstairs and four singles upstairs. This cottage has two bathrooms, one with shower, sunken lounge and two jetmaster fireplaces.

Msasa Cottage (Formerly the Patio Cottage) sleeps three in an open plan room with one double bed and one single and is suitable for honeymoon couples or couples with one young child. Msasa Cottage has bath only, no shower, no open fireplace and a large patio area overlooking the garden.

Mzanje Cottage is a new addition to Frog & Fern and sleeps 3 people – again, one double and one single bed, sharing a bathroom with shower. It has a lounge with jetmaster fireplace.

Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and warm ambience. Even the wall space is designed to encourage you to steady yourself and contemplate the wonder of this place called Chimanimani. Hanging in every cottage original art works by well known and loved local artists including Martin van der Spuy and Craig Bone tempt you to browse slowly, wind down and enjoy your stay.
