Matemwe is one of the most scenic places on the east coast of Zanzibar, where phones and television sets seem to belong to another planet. A place where nature is still un-spoilt. Where the swimming pool (the blue /green ocean in front of your bungalow) stretches out far beyond the horizon to touch land again in Indonesia some 3000 miles away. In Matemwe the clock is the position of the moon itself according to which we swim, dive and live.

Accommodation: 

All 15 double bed bungalows, as well as the restaurant, are directly overlooking the Indian Ocean. The size of the hotel ensures an exclusive experience with friendly and personal attention. The bungalows have large verandas; all beds have spring mattresses and square mosquito nets.

Activities: 

 Recreation in this area is one of leisure and tranquillity. Instead of speedboats or water skiing, Matemwe offer you sailing with the local 

 Snorkelling or diving at the unique and colourful Mnemba reef. For the lucky ones, whales, dolphins or sea turtles might be spotted at close range. Matemwe Bungalows runs a fully equipped PADI recognised dive centre.
