Mountain holiday in Bvumba, Zimbabwe
Vumba
WHY TRAVEL HERE?
  • Aptly named the “Mountains of the Mist,” or Bvumba Mountains, they loom in the morning mist far off the beaten track in a picturesque and untouched part of Zimbabwe.

  • Situated approximately 25km south-east of Mutare, Vumba offers superb views over the city, neighbouring Mozambique to the east, and the coffee plantations of Burma Valley down to the Chimanimani Mountains.

  • The Bunga Forest Botanical Reserve on the southern slopes is a National Park containing 30ha of unspoilt indigenous woodland.

  • A hiker’s paradise, boasting spectacular cloud formations and serenity.

  • Visitors receive access to various mapped out walking trails.

  • A prime forest birding venue adjacent to the Bvumba Botanical Gardens, which attract a host of sunbird species and offer Samango monkey spotting opportunities.

  • Nearby Mutare is the provincial capital of Manicaland and Zimbabwe’s third largest city.

  • The city has plenty of wonderful amenities including coffee farms, craft shops, the Mutare Museum, the Aloe Garden and Park, and Cecil Kop and Thompson’s Vlei Nature Reserves, all within easy reach.

  • Home of the legendary Leopard Rock Hotel and Golf Course.

  • Open all year round, although best seen in the dry and sunny but reasonably cooler months of April through to September.
