When Vasco da Gama rounded Africa in the late 15th century, he stopped at Inhambane, today the capital of the southern region of Mozambique, to replenish stocks and to explore. He took an immediate liking to the area and named it Terra de Boa Gente or 'Land of the Good People'. 

Southern Mozambique offers a beautiful blend of pristine beaches, stilted houses, rivers and small towns. There is much to explore and diving is an absolute must as there are amazing opportunities to see whale sharks and manta rays.
